현대백화점 무역센터점 SketcH.Wall Collection 프로젝트의 첫 번째 작품 A Garden 2021 입니다.
자연을 인간의 방식으로 모사한 형태의 기계가 자연과 같은 행태를 보여줄 때 이를 자연으로 인정할 수 있는지에 대한 의문에서 출발한 작품입니다. 작품은 자연을 모사한 기계를 표현하되 동양적인 표현 문법을 따르고 있고, 복과 행운을 기원하는 아홉 마리의 잉어를 그린 구어도로 시작해 문자도로 마무리하는 전개입니다. 컴퓨테이션을 이용해 영상을 제작하는 뉴미디어아트이지만 대상을 바라보는 시각은 지극히 동양적인 특징이 있는 작품입니다.
This is A Garden 2021, the first exhibit for the SketcH.Wall Collection project at Trade Center Hyundai Department Store.
It begins by posing a question: can a representation of nature using manmade machine parts be even deemed as something of a natural environment in its own right. Although the artwork is of machines mimicking nature, it also adheres to the expressive conditions common in Asian art. The nine carps on the Gueodo symbolize luck and fortune, and there’s also the Munjado that is at end of the exhibit. Though it is a new media art format that uses computations, it nevertheless carries with it a strictly eastern perspective.
